Ifdakar's pursuit of musical growth and experimental improvisation create an experience not to be forgotten. Hailing from Appleton, Wisconsin, this six piece band has garnered recognition from their live performances where the band channels elements of psychedelic rock, funk, jazz, reggae, electronica, and blues.
From songs that are tragic, to songs that transcend, Ifdakar showcases an array of improvisational jamming and elaborately structured pieces that are steeped in influences such as Phish, Pink Floyd, STS9, MMW, Les Claypool, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and the Grateful Dead. This spectrum allows for dense musical freedom, to tension-and-release madness.
With 2008 being Ifdakar's first full year as a band they came out of the gate to play 49 shows in and around the state including: The Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay, Feel Good Festival in Amherst, The Rave in Milwaukee, the Fall Roots Festival in Black River Falls, and Hempfest in Madison. 2009 looks to be even busier, as the band continues to hone their craft and prepare to embark on a musical journey through Denver, Colorado in late March. This will be the mountainous region's first live introduction to Ifdakar's musical soundscape.
Ifdakar's reputation continues to grow positively after each performance. From the intimate audience connections that stir, to the dark and spacey jams that take hold, Ifdakar is about musical dialogue between each other, and their growing audience.
TJ from gbnightlife.com called Ifdakar "the current status of funk in Wisconsin... The fusion/blues guitars, funky bass grooves, free-time jazz keyboard, and hypnotic drumming blend in an inventive emotional style all their own."
